Recommendations after removal of plaster and tampons
Week 2
To reduce swelling, you should sleep on three or four pillows or in a recliner for another week.
Crusting may occur up to 4 or 5 weeks after surgery. These crusts fall off over time.
Nasal saline spray or sea water can be applied to the nostrils 3 times a day as needed to clean the nose for another month.
Antibiotic ointment should be applied to the nostrils and stitch areas twice a day for another month.
After the surgery, there will be no scar in the stitch areas, but scar healing gel (scarex®️, controtubex®️) can be recommended to patients who wish to do so. These gels should be applied to the stitch areas twice a day. It should be continued for 2 months.
The nose blowing movement can be started slowly after 2 weeks.
Contact sports should not be done for 3 months.
You can return to school or work on the day the cast is removed (day 7).
