How to Disinfect Sutures?
- When open rhinoplasty is performed, when the nostrils are reduced and/or the upper lip is lifted, there will be several “stitches” on the outside of the nose. These should be disinfected daily with an ointment that will be prescribed for you (Example: thiocilline eye ointment, bactroban®️).
- Even if you have had closed rhinoplasty and the stitches are not visible, you should apply the ointment to the tip of your nose once a day for the first two weeks after surgery.
