Op. Dr. Fuad Sofuoğlu

Postoperative Care (1st Week)

Week 1

  • Cold application should be applied to the eyes and forehead during the first 48 hours. (Cold application should be applied for 15-20 minutes every hour while you are awake. Ice or anything frozen should not be brought into direct contact with the skin.)
  • It is recommended to continue applying cold compresses to patients with excessive edema for 1 week.
  • After surgery, the drip pad under the nose should be changed as needed.
  • To reduce swelling, sleep on several pillows or in a recliner for 1 week.
  • Nasal cast/splint should be kept dry. You can take a shower the day after the surgery.
  • Nose blowing should not be done for 1 month after the surgery.
  • Sneezing should be done with the mouth open.
  • If there are crusts near the stitches, they should not be removed.
  • The body can be washed after the operation. Washing can be done by laying the hair back (so that water does not come to the face). For this purpose, hair washing can be done at the hairdresser.
  • Avoid hot environments.
  • Do not smoke. Smoking increases bleeding and negatively affects wound healing.
  • Sometimes you may feel congestion in your ears, but this will pass with time.
  • Heavy lifting and exercise should not be done for 2-3 weeks after the surgery.
  • Activities that will increase blood pressure should be avoided.
  • The stitches dissolve on their own or can be removed after 14 days if necessary.
