General Recommendations After Surgery
- We recommend not driving for the first 3 days after the surgery.
- Fluid intake is very important after surgery. Water should be consumed abundantly. Carbonated and salty drinks should not be consumed.
- Alcohol and caffeine-containing drinks should not be consumed.
- Hot drinks should not be consumed.
- Constipation may develop as you will be more sedentary than usual. Therefore, more raw fruits should be added to the diet and fluid intake should be increased. Wheat bran, oat bran, flaxseed, black plums, kiwi, dates, dried figs and peaches, which are rich in fiber, can be consumed.
- The following can be consumed to help reduce inflammation and edema: pineapple
- Hard foods, spicy foods, carbohydrates, very hot and very cold foods, and salty foods should not be consumed.
- You should start walking as soon as possible. Walking helps reduce swelling.
- If aspirin or other blood thinning medications are used, a physician should be consulted.
- During this period, alcohol and cigarettes should not be consumed for at least 2 months.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited, especially for the first month after the surgery. It is recommended not to drink for 2 months.
- After the surgery, pools, Turkish baths, saunas and jacuzzis should not be used for at least 1 month.
- If iron and vitamin supplements are used, a physician should be consulted.
- Care must be taken to avoid infection in the stitches. Antibiotic cream use should be continued after the surgery, especially for the first month.
- Avoid blows to the nose by being gentle when washing your face, washing your hair, taking a shower and using cosmetic products.
- Glasses should not be worn until the nose is completely healed, usually 2 months.
- The head should be kept upright and no bending backwards or forwards should be made.
- You should not go out in the sun for 6 months. You should use sunscreen as a precaution.
- The nose tip (suture area) should not be touched with your hand. You should apply the cream
with cotton buds.
